The 2018 Baron de Brane offers ripe red currant and cranberry fruit and hints of cedar and black pepper on a nose that is fuller and more generous than recent vintages. The medium-bodied palate displays fine-grained tannins.

Chateau Beaumont 2016, Cru. Haut-Medoc

47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot.

The 2016 Beaumont has quite a powerful bouquet with dense black fruit, boysenberry and cedar, traces of pencil lead developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite spicy compared to its peers, then it reins everything back in for what is a refined finish. Classy stuff, but I would afford this a couple of years in bottle.

Medium to deep garnet coloured, the 2009 Belgrave gives up baked cherries, mulberries, stewed plums and forest floor scents with camphor and spice box nuances. Medium to full-bodied, soft and fleshy on the palate, it has a spicy/raisin cake finish.

The name means to "Chase away the blues” and this engaging producer never fails to produce wine that does so. Château Chasse-Spleen is the one of the leading chateau in Moulis. 
It is a fresh and vegetal wine with woody notes, the finish is pleasant and very complex.

The nose is expressive onnotes of fruit and lots of spice; it reveals ripeness and is very fresh. On the palate, this wine is charming, with surprising fullness, smoothness, and a lot of depth.

From the prestigious appellation of Margaux, Desmirail is expertly managed by Denis Lurton. This Chateau was once part of the vast Rauzan estate and didn’t appear as an independent wine label until 1982. However, it has since been making its own history with its wine growing in quality and reputation.

Ch. du Tertre’s 2009 is a fantastic gem of a wine. With forward, fruity, fresh red and black fruit aromas, this has wonderful concentration with layers of creamy blackberries rolling across the palate, super-silky tannins and a mocha hint at the finish adding complexity.
Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2006, St. Julien

The 2006 Ducru Beaucaillou has a precocious bouquet for the vintage: opulent ripe dark cherry, red plum and cassis fruit, mint and hints of vanilla pod. It is very well defined and very sensual. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet opening, plenty of dark cherry and blackberry, Hoisin, a touch of cedar and again mint.
Chateau Graud Larose 2000, St. Julien

Deep, dark ruby-red, not quite opaque. Aromas are deep, brooding dark fruit & liquorice, well integrated with cedar notes. The palate has vibrant acidity and cassis fruit at first, but this is closed up by the oak on the mid palate. Alcohol adds a touch of warmth and the fruit fights back on the finish, showing rich dark fruit at the end.
Chateau La Dominique 2012, St. Emilion

This is an attractive and generous example from St Emilion, with ripe blackcurrant and blue fruit characters and a plump texture throughout. There is plenty of depth on offer across the palate with mineral and graphite notes to accompany the fruit. Well integrated acidity provides a linear, silky mouthfeel and a cool, refined finish. This illustrates the depth and finesse that can be found on the Right Bank this year.
Chateau Labegorce 2017, Margaux

46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot.

Floral Margaux elegance is present on the nose and the palate shows an appetising blend of black fruit and savoury, spicy notes. Following a traditional fermentation in concrete vats, this wine was transferred to barrel, with twenty percent new oak, for fifteen months’ ageing.

Forward and lifted cassis fruit on the nose with violets and notes of graphite.  More of the same across the palate, flamboyant and dense with bags of acidity providing a linear feel – very typical of the finest 2014s.  This is fleshy and generous but with the firm tannin backbone that we expect from the commune.

Chateau Langoa 2006, Barton St. Julien

Their 2006 is more masculine than usual, with bags of restrained dark fruit combined with firm tannins, a powerful structure, and a lively mineral-laden finish. This will definitely be a Langoa for the long term.

Very aromatic with cherries and blackberries. Hints of flowers. Full body, lightly chewy yet ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Tangy and delicious.

Chateau Léoville Barton 2017, St. Julien

The 2017 Leoville Barton is deep garnet in color. It waltzes out with a stunning perfume of redcurrant jelly, warm cassis, and Morello cherries, followed by an undercurrent of peonies, dark chocolate, licorice, and wet slate. The medium-bodied palate delivers a firm backbone of beautifully ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness to support the layer upon layer of fruit and floral notes, finishing with great length and poise.

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Franc, spending up to 15 months in oak barrels, roughly 50% of which are new.  On the nose ripe red fruits as blackberry and dark plum. On the palate: Almost full-bodied, soft, and round. It melts on your tongue. A marvellous integration of tastes from the dark fruit, tannins, oak, and vanilla.

The 2007 La Mission Haut Brion should be considered as one of the wines of the vintage. medium-bodied with very fine tannin, crisp acidity and a very precise structure, with superb tension on the finish. If you are seeking a 2007 Bordeaux, then this would undoubtedly be one of my picks.

After aeration, it shows an impressive intensity and reveals notes of Morello cherry and blueberry. The attack is dense and expressive. The palate is full-bodied, very harmonious with ripe soft tannins accompanied by a complex fruit, milky toffee, toasted cocoa.

This 2009 vintage is considered the best of the decade. A full-bodied wine, with smooth tannins and a polished texture, carrying notes of dark berries, fresh herbs and a slightly chalky aftertaste.
